Hamster Taming
This is a hamster taming method that i use but it will not always work for every body so this may not be the right one for you.
-
Put some treats in your hand and place your hand inside the cage and let your hamster take the treat. Each day you could put the treat higher up your hand so then the hamster will have to walk on your hand.
-
After step 1 is complete, put a tube in the cage and wait for your hamster to enter it and then close the sides with your hands and put in a taming box or a traveller.
-
Remove the tube and then start grooming it with a tooth brush and if it doesn't struggle, start using your finger so it is used to being handled.
-
Then put the tube back in the box and wait for your hamster to enter it. When it does, lift the tube up and put your hands on either side of the tube to create platforms. Wait for the hamster to go on your hand.
-
When it does, remove the tube and cup your hands. This is how you should always hold your hamster. If it struggles, put it down to reassure it is in no danger. Then keep trying until it doesn't struggle anymore.
-
Sometimes, you will need to give your hamster a health check, so you should practice turning it over. Place your index finger on its head and fingers protecting the belly (don't squeeze). Only do this 1 time a day or it will get dizzy or cross. After this has been perfected, you have a tame hamster!
